Traffic Jam #1 Proposal

“Quiero jugar” is the working title for my project that I want to develop during our residency at Casa das Caldeiras in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I want to interact with the children in the streets of Sao Paulo by asking them if they can teach me a song, a dance or just playing football with them.


Kim Dotty Hachmann is a German video artist who lives and works in Berlin. She studied Visual Communications and Fine Arts focusing on the new media at Kunsthochschule Kassel. In 2001, she earned her Master’s Degree “with distinction” and in 2002 she won the Kunsthochschule Kassel Academy Award. She stayed on working at Kunsthochschule Kassel until 2003 as a “Meisterschülerin” with Professor Nicolaus Ott and Professor Bernard Stein.
Kim Dotty Hachmann invents phantastic scenes and places to answer questions concerning the topic Family. She visually presents her own family in short videos, video installations and photo series.
Since 2001 Kim Dotty Hachmann takes succesfully part in many exhibitions and media art festivals national and abroad such as European media art festival in Osnabrück, Germany, Moving Image Centre in Aukland, New Zealand, 7th International Festival of New Film Split in Croatia, ISEA, 11th Int. Symposium on Electronic Art in Nagoya, Japan, aluCine media festival in Toronto, Canada. She also received several grants and was selected for artist in residence programs such as Künstlerhäuser Worpswede, lettra tv grant for media art, Künstlerhaus Lukas, Pilotprojekt Gropiusstadt and the Casa das Caldeiras (Brazil). Kim Dotty Hachmann is member of the artist collective microwesten and the ECVP Exquisite Corpse Video Project that is curated by the artist and curator Kika Nicolela. She holds a lectureship in motion design at hdpk, Hochschule der Populären Künste in Berlin.
